The 12th century moated castle Pietersheim with reception centre and interactive museum is a good start for a nice outing. The petting zoo of the Pietersheim domain has just about every farm animal, and there is a large playground. Or you can visit the world famous art centre GLO'ART in Neerharen.
A beautiful historical village, chosen as the most beautiful village in Flanders in 2008. The meandering streets and houses with a medieval atmosphere, d’Aspremont-Lynden castle, the museum church and the museum apothecary are beautiful hotspots.
Bilzen combines the impressive castle complex on the heritage site Alden Biesen with cosy terraces around the historical town hall.
The C-Mine, the former mining site of Winterslag, is now a place bursting with creativity, innovation and design. Labiomista is an impressive artistic park managed by the artist Koen Vanmechelen. In Bokrijk you can go back to the times of Flemish Masters, with an interactive and creative track, The World of Bruegel.
The capital of the province offers plenty of wonderful hotspots, each with their own style and recommendations. Learn how to pour, store and drink genever. Take a walk along over 80 graffiti facades, visit the extraordinary exhibition in the Modemuseum or explore the huge Herkenrode Abbey.

Thanks to its history and its enthusiasm for everything modern, this city also offers a lot of museums. You can admire one of the most beautiful stations in Europe, designed by the Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava, wander around the historical centre or see the beautifully maintained parks and city gardens.
Land of wine and marl: you will feel like you're in the south of France. You can go wine-tasting in Wine Castle Genoels-Elderen or take a walk through the vineyards. Or admire the marl village Kanne from the hills of the Sint-Pietersberg and go underground to visit the marl caves. The terrace under the Brug van Vroenhoven also offers a spectacular view.
